The weekend was amazing – we’re so grateful for Lukas & Kimmy and the TWO very full days we spent on 21-22 of June.
Here’s a video summary of our first day of workshops, a fully catered lunch, and a party!
Here is the link to ALL the recaps and demos from the workshops over both days! We are meeting for a practica tomorrow (Thursday) during our regular Kizomba class and we will be practicing these moves!
Lukas and Kimmy have been working together for over 3 years joining their love of Kizomba, African and Afro-Latin dance and rhythms as well as Zumba, fitness and mindfulness skills all together under the banner Buena Onda! Dance & Fitness, their business in Naarm, Melbourne. Lukas & Kimmy’s strengths lie in their ability to adjust and teach various styles with big energy and super awesome vibes, they are the jack of all trades and masters of fun!

I’m Priya and I founded The Movement in January 2025. I’ve been teaching Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, and a bit of Zouk and Swing since 2018 and I’m also a Secondary Maths/Science teacher. I started teaching at the Tasmanian University Social Dance Society and I was President of the Society for several years. I still teach regularly at their Tuesday classes.
The Movement’s first classes were a Kizomba block on Wednesdays which was well-attended and taught by Kirsten and myself. Shinae took over from Kirsten in March as a regular Kizomba teacher. We organised workshop days in February and March with Bryan, Naomi, Shinae, and Catherine, and we’re excited to start an intermediate Salsa block on Fridays in May which will be taught by Pearse and myself.
The purpose of The Movement is to create intermediate classes for Hobart dance students and to organise bespoke and high level workshop days and weekend events with teachers from the mainland, as well as from Tasmania.
We’re also very dedicated to improving the quality of our teaching and creating new and innovative dance classes. If you’ve got any ideas or questions, please get in touch!
